Govt. Degree College, Tekkali is the first Degree College in Tekkali Revenue Division stated in government sector in 1971 with B.A. and B.Com. courses and B.Sc. in 1975 in Canadian Baptist Bungalow in 2.2 acres. (Now it is in the possession of A.P. Residential (B.C. Girls) School situated Opp: Degree College, Tekkali).

Government Degree College, Tekkali was stated to cater the Educational needs of the rural and oriya Lingustic minority students.

The Tekkali Division Education Society purchased this 20 acres (8.09 Hectors) of Govt. Jerayathi dry land covered in patta No. 982 in S.No. 516 Registered on 15-12-1971 through a registered sale Deed from trustee board represented by its Managing Trustee.
