           The Ideal College of Arts & Sciences, Kakinada is the vision of the veteran Educationalists Dr. P.V.N. Raju, Late Sri P.V. Ramana Murthy, Dr. P. Chiranjeevi Kumari, Dr. N.S.R. Sastry of Education Society and the retired Principals of Government Colleges, the District Collector, and a few Social activists who joined the venture of master planning a model educational institution, with Junior Degree and P.G. Courses. 

            Ideal College of Arts & Sciences, Kakinada was established in 1974 with all the important core subjects in B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. The College was admitted to grant-in-aid of A.P. State Government in 1980 and U.G.C. sanctioned 2F and 12B in 1982. 

            The College introduced Computer Sciences at Degree level in 1986-1987, and from that time onwards a number of courses like Electronics, Applied Chemistry, Bio-Technology (Under U.G.C. Scheme), Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, and others have been started. The College started M.Sc Applied Chemistry in 1992 and thereafter M.Sc Applied Mathematics, M.A., Economics, M.Sc Oraganic Chemistry, M.Sc Analytical Chemistry, M.Sc Computer Science, MBA. & MCA are consequently added. 

            The Ideal College has got the image of good governance in public in and around the District with the distinction of having congenial atmosphere between Staff or Students for over a period of past 32 Years without any unrest. The harmonious atmosphere of the staff members as a team, both Teaching and Non-Teaching, has secured credibility of itself among the authorities like Andhra University, Education Department of A.P. State Government, AICTE, UGC, NCERT, NIEPA and other agencies. 

            The College is situated in Two Campuses:

Campus on Samalkot Road:-
           A heritage building popularly known as Simpson building with about 60,000 sq ft containing about 34 Class Rooms, 12 Laboratories, Library, Readings room and stock room, 8 staff rooms, Open Air Auditorium and Seminar Hall, Generator Room, in addition to that Principal, Correspondent, Officer and store and Computer rooms. It has about 2 acres of play ground with the facilities of flood light courts, and play house accommodating multi Gym and Table Tennis. 

Main Campus, Samalkot, Kakinada-533004

Campus in Vidyuthnagar:-
            A land of 14 acres is owned by the College with separate building for all the P.G. Courses, a Central Library, two Computer labs, a conference Hall, Seminar Hall, Management Room, Director Room and well developed play fields facilitating all athletics and games. 

            In February, 2007 NAAC Bangalore assessed the College and accredited it with the grade B⁺⁺. In The same month U.G.C. Expert Team visited the College for sanctioning Autonomous Status. Since the Academic Year 2006-2007, the College introduced Semester System under Autonomous Status, duly approved by U.G.C. and Andhra University.

Aims and Objectives:-
             The motto of the Institution is "Vidya Adarshaha Viswa Shreyaha". The Ideal of education is the Universal Welfare.

Objectives:-

• To introduce the spirit of social commitment in the student as a good citizen obeying and respecting Constitution of India.

• To develop the spirit of democracy and truthfulness.

• To empower the learner to lead a dignified life in the society, equipped with skills and knowledge required and with concern towards the other members of the society.

• To uphold the Heritage of India and National Integration.

• To build capacity in the learners for integrated knowledge-learning.

• To bring out the latent talents of the learner and impart value based education to him.
