Brief History of the College:
Mahatma Gandhi Educational Society after establishing Mahatma Gandhi High School in 1948 and Mahatma Gandhi Junior College in 1963 and bringing them under Aid in the site of 4.95 acres donated by late Mudunuri Sri Raja Gopala Raju and others and with the efforts of late Sri Numburi Jaggaraju a Degree College was started in 1993. It is also named a Mahatma Gandhi Degree College, Atreyapuram unaided. All the three Educational Institutions are at present governed by the Board of Directors and the President Sri Namburi Rama Raju former founder member and Secretary for long time. The Secretary Sri P.S. Raju the great grand son of late Sri M. Rajagopala Raju is also the correspondent running the institutions most successfully.
Mahatma Gandhi Degree College has the following courses:
B.Sc.: Maths, Physics & Computers (E.M.)
B.Sc.: Maths, Physics & Chemistry (E.M.)
B.Com.: CCS Revised Regulations (T.M.)
B.A.: Economics, Public Administrations & Industrial Relations (IRPM) - (T.M.)
There is a total strength of 325 varying + or - from year to year. The full fledged faculty and the Principal thrive to establish model standards and the results are far superior to other neighboring Degree Colleges.
