The Rajah R.S.R.K. Ranga Rao College, Bobbili is the offspring of the
munificence of the philanthropic of Bobbili and vicinity.
The happiest day in the history of Bobbili was 20th February 1961
when the Shastipoorthi of the royal personality, His Highness Sri Ravu
Swethachalapathi Rama Krishna Ranga Rao Bahadur varu, The Rajah of Bobbili
was celebrated. To commemorate this momentous event in a grand and
befitting manner, the people of Bobbili and around assembled on 6th
February 1961 under the leadership of Sri C.Atchutha Rao Garu. They thought
it fit to establish the long needed College of arts and Science in Bobbili
in the name of Rajah Saheb to express their gratitude to him for all
monumental services rendered by him to the people as a chief Minister of
the erstwhile composite Madras State and the ruler of Bobbili. This
praiseworthy idea met with an instantaneous response and the approbation
from one and all.
Sri Bobbili Rajavari Shastipoorthi Mahotsava Sangham was
registered on the 11th May 1962 under the Society Registration act of 1860
bearing the Society No.13 of 1962. The noble personality of The Rajah
saheb of Bobbili himself made a liberal donation of a building worth over
One Lakh Rupees to situate the college and more than fove ares of
adjoining vacant site. The college was started in the academic year
1962-63 with a noble idea to give free education to the people of Bobbili
and surroundings. The tower of strength of the College Committee is it’s
chairman Rajah R.V.G.K. Ranga Rao Bahadur whose guidance was the foremost
in establishing the College with an idea to give good standards of
education to the students in and around Bobbili town. In the subsequent
