Sree Konaseema Bhanoji
Ramars College was established in 1951. This was the only college in the
entire KONASEEMA in those days, and the third college in EAST GODAVARI
DISTRICT. The College was named after the Grand Father of Late J.V.B.
Ramars, Zamindar of Peruru and Chief Donor, whose munificent donor of
1 (one) lakh helped in establishing the college. It was started with
Intermediate Classes in the Zilla Parishad High School. Amalapuram
temporarily and affiliated to Andhra University. The management made
efforts to acquire site in Amalapuram and succeeded in purchasing the
present site, where the College is situated. In the second year of the
establishment, the College acquired about 4 acres of land and started
classes in its own premises where there was an old rice mill shed. In
1953, the college started the Degree classes with B.A., B.Com. and attained full
status of a Degree College. In 1958-59 the B.Sc. course was started and
gradually, other courses etc. Successive Management's from time to time made efforts to develop the
College under the stewardship of Shri N. Ramabhadra Raju, the Founder
President. The college made great strides in development and progress. The
College attained the reputation of being one of the best Colleges in the
State in Discipline, Instruction and results. Since then the College has
been maintaining a student strength of 3500 to 4500. In accordance with
the modern educational policy and needs, the college introduced
restructured courses in Computer Science, Electronics, Fisheries, Local
self-government and Management Studies in 1980. Recognized by U.G.C. and
Andhra University, this College has several buildings and vast playground
bound by a compound wall in about 23 acres of land. This College Students
always stood first/ second in Games and Sports at the State Level,
particularly in Basket Ball, Kabaddi and Shuttle Badminton.
In 1999,
introducing M.Sc., in Computer Science, elevates the College to the Post
Graduate Level. The College also started B.C.A. Course in response to
the demand for Computer Science Education, in addition to already existing
courses in B.Sc. Computer Science and Electronics. Recently in 2001 the college
was sanctioned with the M.C.A. course at PG Level. College also started B.Sc., Biotechnology,
Petrochemicals and Bio-Chemistry from the academic year 2002-03.
The college
is sanctioned
B.Ed., course from the academic year 2002-03, and the course is
inaugurated on 08-05-2003. The long felt need of Konaseema people is
fulfilled by this achievement. The College of Education is established in
a decent two storied building, which is convenient to teacher trainees.
The College celebrated
its GOLDEN JUBILEE in June 2002 in a most befitting and grand manner.
Several educationists, literates and prominent old students attended the
functions.
The College is situated
in an area of 23 acres of land with compound wall all around and B.T.
Roads inside. It has separate Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Botany,
Zoology, Statistics, Computer Science, Electronics, Biotech,
Petrochemicals and Bio-Chemistry each located in separate R.C.C. Building
with adequate teakwood furniture and well equipped apparatus. It has a two
storied separate Library Building containing nearly 80,000 books relating
to all the faculties apart form departmental Libraries. The college is
having good adequate number of 45 R.C.C. Lecturer halls each with enough
furniture. It has a play-ground in 12 acres of land.
The College is
having the following Teaching faculties:
Telugu, English, Hindi and Sanskrit as languages. Mathematics, Statistics,
Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Bio-Technology, Zoology, Fisheries,
Bio-Chemistry, Petrochemicals, Computer Science, Electronics in Science
courses.
History,
Politics, Economics, Public Administration, Management Studies, Commerce
in Arts.
The total
strength of Aided Teaching Faculty is 86 and Unaided 50. The Aided
Non-Teaching Staff 50 and Unaided Non-Teaching Staff are 40 in number. The
total salaries of employees of the college will be about 20 (Twenty) Lakhs
per month.
Thus the
college is one of the biggest private Aided colleges in the State of
Andhra Pradesh and reputed for discipline and in imparting education. It
is financially sound with permanent buildings in its own land of 23 acres
in the heart of Amalapuram Town, which is a Revenue Division Headquarters.
