VIJNANANILAYAM DEGREE COLLEGE is an
undergraduate college of Philosophy, affiliated to Andhra University,
Waltair. Affiliation to the Andhra University took place in the
academic year 1997-1998 (Progs. Rc.No. APSCHE/New Deg.
Colleges/Sec/97-98, dated 13.06.97. The ownership and Management of
the college rests with Andhra Capuchin Society, Vijayawada.
Vijnananilayam Degree College has Philosophy as main
subject and the auxiliary subjects are Sociology and Psychology. To
complete the course in Philosophy, the students are expected to
prepare a scientific paper of twenty pages on a current topic in
Philosophy, which will be followed by vice-voce of 15 minutes. The
college also conducts internal assessment for each subject for 30
marks.
The Philosophy course covers all the major areas of
Eastern and Western Philosophy. Thus with the completion of Degree
Course at Vijnananilayam one will have received a basic and
comprehensive Philosophical training.
Vijnananilayam also caters to the other co-curricular
course, such as sports, social works, Green and clean program, fine
arts, and oratorical skills. Holistic and comprehensive growth of the
students is the aim of this college.
