Review on “THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI”

"The captivating story that teaches as it delights” we find this quoted reward above the title, given by Paul Coelho, a renowned writer in English. Indeed, Robin Sharma’s work is more worth than above words. It is made clear when I was amazing through out my communication with “The monk who sold his Ferrari”.

In first chapter, we find a scenario that introduces two main characters John and Julian. Julian is a brilliant, handsome and fearless trail attorney with dreams of greatness. His outrageous courtroom theatrics regularly made the front pages of the news papers. As time passes, he lost his focus in courtroom. He becomes vexed in doing his job. He searches for peace in life. But thrust for fame and name makes him sleepless. At one stage he quits his profession and leaves to India in his journey to find peace.

On one day, John meets Julian in his office. John dazzles by Julian’s incredible transformation. In their conversation Julian describes so many experiences; those were happened during his journey. Actual story starts here. We can find valuable quotations and teachings of sages in Himalayas, where Julian stays for a long time in his journey.

Julian describes wisdom of personal life and ways of controlling mind. While describing art of living, he uses on quote I am giving that below

Trust yourself. Create the kind of life you will be
happy to live with all your life. Make the most of
yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility
into the flames of achievement.

This is quoted by Foster C. McClellan. Most of us may not know his name, but this quote is worth of reading. In this book we can find number of such quotations. Thanks for Robin’s work.

A separate chapter is dedicated for “The power of discipline”. He starts this chapter with a great quotation given by Winston Churchill. Last chapter has a great resource to find different ways to find lifelong happiness. This chapter starts with a quotation made by Mahatma Gandhi. The last sentence that lets you think for some time is “We all are here for some special reason. Stop being a prisoner for your past. Become the architect of your future.”

We find simple English in his writing. No where, we feel difficulty in reading this book. It suggests so many ways to define our purpose of living and ways of finding happiness every where. It is worth of saying this book as a best friend for us to get guidance, encouragement and assistance in developing ourselves.
