the tune of more than four crores, spent for all developmental activities
and infrastructural facilities, enabling the University the University to

Visit the UGC X Plan Committee and the sanction of 3.705 crores to the
University based on its recommendations. The immediate release of Rs.
222.30 lakhs, three-fifths of allocation under the Head, Development
Assistance to the Universities, Sector I; the break-up of the total
allocation being spelt out to various Departments and Central facilities.

of total literacy and dissemination of knowledge to every nook and corner

Conduct for Degree Colleges with regard to the conduct of examinations,
college affiliations, fiscal policy and with an emphasis being laid on
Restructuring of Courses to make them learner - oriented and

Introduction of Five New Courses for the academic years 2002-03 and
2003-04 - M.Tech. (Biotechnology), M.S.c (Electronics and Instrumentation
Technology), M.A. (Journalism and Communication ), M.Tech. programme

Care.

Sixty three colleges within the University purview accorded permission
to start various P.G. Courses and 2 P.G. Colleges, 4 Pharmacy colleges,
1 Engineering College , 2 Hostel Management Colleges, 32 Degree
colleges and 24 B.Ed. colleges given sanction for affiliation.

Regular conduct of M.S. (IS) Faculty Improvement Programmes and
Student Knowledge Fora encouraged by the support of APSCHE, Hyderabad
to
train faculty members and supply teaching materials in the form of
CDs, expert lectures, power-point presentations, and question banks
being made
available to the fourteen colleges offering the programme.

Catching-up with the On-Job Training Programmes initiated by the
Government of Andhra Pradesh as part of the Human Resource Development
and
the creation of Student Knowledge Forum in various colleges, leading
to the provision of necessary man-power in empowering students and
teachers with the
knowledge required to build e-Governance and use of Public Domain Software
Tools.

The years 2002, 2003 marked by the Inauguration of New Building in the Nuzvid P.G. Centre, the inauguration of Academic Block-VII and VIII,

Silver Jubilee Building, the Principal's office, the Commerce Seminar
Hall, the Andhra Bank Extension Counter and computerised wing of the
State Bank of India, in the new premises and the extension block to
the Ladies Hostel.

Impressive momentum given to On-going Research Projects to the tune of
Rs.105.28 lakhs sponsored by various agencies such as DST, UGC, CSIR,
AICTE, DAE etc., and sanction of UGC-Funded Major Research projects to the
tune of Rs. 13.98 lakhs in the recent months.

Provision made for non-teaching employees in the University, fulfilling
the eligibility criteria to
enter into the research stream. Provision made for extramural research
whereby Administrators employed in National Laboratories Government /

organisations / establishments which have entered into M.O.U. with the
University can seek
admission into research.

Service Learning Links being forged keeping in view Higher Education's
responsibility to develop the next generation of active citizens and the campus's
responsibility to set examples of good citizenship. Fillip given to the
Department of Adult & Continuing Education Extension Work and Field
Outreach to
community training and motivation programmes for the optimum utilisation
of human resources towards National Integration, Highest Percentage of
Literacy and Health Awareness.

Student Activites:- Encouragement given to
students to participate in Inter-University Events, hosting Youth
Festivals, College Day Celebrations and the
organisation of cultural competitions in debate, elocution, quiz,
light-vocal, western-vocal, Mono-action, Indian Classical Western
Instrumental music, by the Fine Arts Association, the students
having lifted several trophies in these two years.

Sports:- Efforts made to host the South Zone All India
Inter-Zonal Inter-University Badminton and South-Zone Women's kabaddi
Championships yeilding
stunning results, the University, the University having lifted the
Winner's Cup in the first two events and the third place in the Kabaddi
events, the winning of
Gold Models in Power-Lifting and Weight-Lifting, to
add to the crowning glory. Permission accorded to the University by the
All India Sports Board for
conduct of PECET-2003 & PECET-2004 Examinations.

Career on Wheels (COW): The
University has introduced a novel and innovative programme by name
'Career on Wheels' (COW),
with the collaboration of the Regional Employment Officer (REO),
Vijayawada. The railway commuters, both students and employees,
who travel between Gudivada and Vijayawada will be taught 'Communication
Skills in English', leading a certificate at the end of 6 months.
The journey period of 1 1/2 hour will be effectively used for imparting
communication skills in English. The Centre for Distance Education
will conduct week end classes, as usual, at Vijayawada on Sundays. This
programme is first of its kind and may be extended to other courses also
in future.

Didactical Environmental Education Doctrine (DEED)
Award awarded by the Confederation of Indian Universities. New Delhi
in association with
International Association of Educators for World Peace (Affiliated to
United Nations - ECOSOC, DPI, UNESCO, UNICEF) at India International
Centre, New Delhi.
