Eligibility criteria:  

M.Sc: B.Sc. Degree students with any two subjects such as Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, Human Genetics, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Mathematics with 50% marks in optional subjects. Admissions are based on the rank obtained in AUCET of Biotechnology conducted by Andhra University.

PhDs: M.Sc Degree with Biotechnology or allied subjects with minimum of 50% marks. Admissions are based on qualification in National Eligibility Test (NET)/ Entrance test conducted by Andhra University.  

Course Content:  

M.Sc. Biotechnology Programme consists of foundation courses in Cell Biology, Biomolecules, Microbial physiology and Genetics, Analytical tools and Techniques in Biotechnology, Enzymology and Metabolism, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering and Biology of Immune system, covered in 8 different theory papers in first year followed by advanced aspects of Cell Culture technology and Tissue Engineering, Plat Biotechnology , Animal Biotechnology, Medical and Environmental Biotechnology, Heterologous Expression and Down Stream Processing, Bioinformatics and Biostatistics in another 6 theory papers in second Year. Seven Practical courses covering the subjects of the theory are organized in all the four Semesters. In addition every student has to carry out a Project work in Biotech lab or Industry for about 4 to 6 weeks, submit the project report and should present the results in a seminar by the End of the Fourth Semester. Regular weekly seminar Programme has been made a part of the Academic curriculum.
