Research Activities:
Thrust areas of Research include Enzyme Technology, Bioactive compounds from Medicinal Plants and Marine Bacteria, Bioprocess Development, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Physiology and Crop Biotechnology. Several Research Papers have been published in National and International Journals from the Department of Biotechnology. Faculty members and Research scholars actively participated in various National and International Conferences/ Symposia and Presented Research papers.
Projects Completed:

Six refresher courses in Plant Biotechnology as a part of capacity building in Biotechnology Supported by Andhra Pradesh - Netherlands Biotechnology Programme (APNLBP) were organized from 2003-2005.

Seven refresher courses in Biotechnology have been Organized through the Academic staff College with UGC funds from 2002-2007.

One training Programme in Biotechnology Sponsored by A.P.State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad was organized in 2007.
Ongoing Projects:
Human Resource Development in Biotechnology, sponsored by Agri-Biotech Foundation (APNLBP), Hyderabad for conducting 3 refresher courses in Biotechnology (2008-2009). "Screening of marine actinobacteria for bioactive compounds from the sediments of Bay of Bengal" sponsored by Ministry of Earth Sciences, Gov't of India, New Delhi (2008-2011).
