Born to a noted agriculturist Sri Beela Bapu Naidu and Smt.Satyamamma on 1 st July, 1948 in Thandrangi, Jami Mandal, Vizianagaram district, he is inherited the humble qualities of his parents.
After having his early education at Vizianagaram, he took his B.E(Mechanical) and M.E(Machine Design) degrees in 1972 and 1975 respectively. He continued his distinguished academic career under QIP and Ph.D. in 1988 from IIT, Delhi . His academic pursuits also include M.E.(Industrial Engineering) and M.Tech (Computer Science and Technology), obtained from Andhra University .
During his service as Mechanical Engineer in A.P. Paper Mills, Rajahmundry, from 1975 to 1978, he designed and developed a number of attachments like Elliptical Turning Attachment to lathe machines, Indexing Attachment for Shaping Machines, and Scroll Threading Attachment etc., With the inspiration, he opted for teaching and started his professional career as Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Andhra University in 1978 and subsequently promoted as reader in 1986 and as professor in 1998.
As a teacher with commitment and dedication, he earned the admiration of several batches of students during his 30 years of academic career. He did an extensive research work in various fields of mechanical engineering apart from developing a number of Software Packages in CAD/CAM. He had to his credit 94 papers published in various national and international conferences and journals and guided 12 Ph.D. theses. Also he had successfully undertaken several research projects funded by MHRD, DST and AICTE. Apart from attending a number of continuing education programmes and delivering endowment lectures at IIT, Delhi and JNTU, he also organized five national seminars and one winter school funded by ISTE, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and rendered commendable services to various public and private sector organizations like Hindustan Shipyard, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, VUDA and NSTL.
His brilliant academic career was embellished by his administrative experience. He served as Member of Board of Mechanical Engineering, A.U. During his tenure as Head of the Department of Mechanical engineering, he has successful in creating a healthy academic atmosphere by conducting a number of conferences for both teachers and students.
He has instrumental in starting GMR Institute of Technology, Rajam. As the Secretary and Correspondent and the Governing Body Member of GMRIT, he has highly successful in placing the institute on par with the well established engineering colleges of the state.
His administrative acumen ins aptly recognized by the University Administration and he has appointed as the Rector of the University. His inherent qualities of amiability and poise, gentle disposition and excellent qualities of leadership and proved himself to be a balanced administrator.
He has happily married to Smt.B.Padmavathi who is a source of great strength and inspiration to him in all his endeavors. He has blessed with two daughters, Rama Devi and Radha Kumari and both of them have married and settled happily.
